Upper and lower boards and edges are badly scuffed and rubbed with partial restoration to head and base of spine and one corner. Spine binding is partially cracked at one point. Endpapers are creased and soiled with small loss to some corners. The page between the title page and first page of the text is missing. However, this is not a removed plate as the paper quality is different to that used for the plates. Many pages are soiled, foxed and damp edge stained although the etchings on the plates remain generally unaffected. A few pages are creased on the corners. And yet, for all this, the book remains a scarce, desirable item!
