New York Harper and Brothers 1909 1st Edition Very Good No Jacket Hardback
Single leaf of adverts to rear; two photographic plates of Shakespeare and Bacon; purple stamp "Published in US of America" to copyright page; green cloth with top edge gilt and gilt titling. Corners are softened; slight sunning to spine; owner's inscription; pin holes to blank front endpaper which held a typewritten copy of a letter, dated 1935, to Sir John Sinclair, thanking him for his gift of the book and remarking on the fact that Twain did write seriously!
